Challenge:

Our client had encountered several challenges when it came to managing the studies carried out in their facility. Often when using their current system of completing paper forms to fulfill requests of studies, the team found itself overbooked with study requests. The client wanted to streamline the process of initiating and managing studies and, in addition, had the desire to go green.

Approach:

Early on, Aciron met on numerous occasions with the client to better understand how the research facility functioned. Aciron recorded all of the client’s requirements and created a story board that helped to visually demonstrate the flow of the application. Once the solution was developed and thoroughly tested, Aciron conducted a user acceptance testing (UAT) session with the client. Over the course of several feedback and general brainstorming sessions, Aciron and the client finalized the solution. The end product included not just a system for managing the studies, but also an end-to-end study scheduling and management system.

Solution:

Aciron Consulting created a custom study management system using Microsoft .NET and SQL Server technologies. This system allowed users to initiate studies using a browser based interface and managing the entire workflow for the study. In addition, a graphical representation of all the studies being conducted in a given timeframe was available to management with the click of a single button. The system also allowed the users to filter studies based on the status and quickly look up the details of a particular study. The robust security framework within the system only allowed users access to authorized sections.

Collaborating with Aciron and through beta testing, Aciron developed a customized system with an easy-to-use user interface yet was scalable enough to handle our business needs.
